Sounds are useful in programs for a number of reasons, from alerting the user to playing a tune, and there are some excellent facilities for making sounds in the BBC BASIC language. Before reading this article, it is advantageous to ensure that:
- The PC has a sound card fitted
- A good BBC BASIC interpreter/compiler is being used
The reader will take away a good knowledge of the two important keywords SOUND and ENVELOPE, as well as an appreciation of using channels.
